About Tom

I am a writer and multimedia journalist living in Pennsylvania. I am currently seeking an M.A. in Journalism and Mass Communication at Point Park University. As a graduate assistant there, I was an adviser and instructor for The Pioneer, an undergraduate magazine class, and I assisted the director of the graduate program with research and other tasks. I previously earned a B.S. in Communication, summa cum laude, from Clarion University of PA.

I have been an active supporter of student media. I was Editor-in-Chief of the Clarion Call newspaper, created a weekly show on WCUB-TV called "Literary Lust," and also worked in many other positions for the student media throughout my time at Clarion. At Point Park, I have taken courses working with "Point News Now" on U-View TV, the Innocence Institute, the Point Park News Service, and "Stepping Forward" (an hour-long documentary about transitioning foster youth).

Skills

I have experience and interest in many forms of media, including writing and editing, desktop publishing, television and film, and visual arts such as printmaking.
